TIPS: Wedding evening entertainment - picking a disco

EBM Photography Lion Quays Wedding first dance-1

So you have been planning the day part of your wedding, but what to do with your evening? There are lots of options for evening entertainment, however it usually involves some form of music.  It is quite popular these days to hire a ceilidh band or other live music (you can read more on this in a forthcoming post), however most people stick with the traditional, tried and tested, disco. My husband and I are ballroom dancers, so we knew we needed a DJ that was able to cater to that style of music, but also be able to play well known hits.  The majority of party goers just like to get their groove on to chart topping tracks.I recently attended an event where Stephen, from Stephen Crumlish Discos, was in charge of the music.  He has been a DJ for 20 years, is based in Scotland, covering Tayside, Fife and Angus.  Stephen certainly knows how to get the party started, and if a track isn't working, isn't afraid to switch it.  He also has a few tricks up his sleeve to get people up on the dance floor.  These skills get a big thumbs up from me, so I highly recommend him to my brides.Stephen was also kind enough to answer some questions for me. How far in advance should you book your disco? Some people book 2 years in advance but normally 6 months. What are the top 5 most popular 1st dance songs at weddings?Top 5 are:Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out LoudEllie Goulding - How Long Will I Love YouLonestar - AmazedJason Marz - I Won't Give UpChristina Perry - A Thousand Years.Song most likely to get people up dancing?Mark Ronson - Uptown FunkWhat decade of music is most requested? No real decade stands out, it depends on crowd. You can find Stephen's Facebook page here.
